Where the Aerospace and Defense Jobs Are Right Now

  • Commercial aviation is back and hungry. Airlines are flying more, and Boeing and Airbus have order backlogs that stretch out years. That means steady work for structures, avionics, and quality engineers. If you can help ramp production without cutting corners on safety, companies want you.
  • Defense spending is up and staying there. Budgets are climbing across the US and allied nations. Programs in missiles, radar, and electronic warfare are hiring hard. Expect strong demand for systems engineers and anyone who can hold a security clearance. Clearances still open doors fast, so keep yours current.
  • Space is no longer just the big names. Launch cadence keeps rising, and satellite constellations need people to build and operate them. Propulsion techs, GNC engineers, and ground software developers are all in short supply. Startups pay well but move fast, so bring a stomach for change.
  • MRO cannot find enough hands. Maintenance, repair, and overhaul shops are short on licensed mechanics and technicians. An A&P certificate is close to a golden ticket right now. Wages are rising because the work will not wait.
  • Unmanned systems are scaling up. Drones and autonomous platforms are moving from pilot projects to real fleets. Companies need engineers who understand autonomy, sensors, and safe integration into airspace.

Bottom line: the whole sector is short on skilled people. If you have the training and the drive, this is a strong time to move.
