Where the Aerospace and Defense Jobs Are Right Now

Here is what I see moving the market. If you build, fix, or fly things, read this.

• Commercial aviation is scrambling for MRO talent. Airlines are flying older fleets longer, so maintenance shops need A&P mechanics, avionics techs, and inspectors. If you hold your certs and can pass a background check, you have leverage on pay and location. This is the steadiest demand in the industry.

• Defense hiring follows the budget, and the budget is up. Programs in missiles, munitions, and shipbuilding are staffing hard. Cleared engineers and machinists are in short supply, so a clearance is worth real money. Expect to work on production ramps, not just design.

• Space is past the hype and into the grind. Launch cadence keeps climbing, which means jobs in manufacturing, test, and range operations. Companies want people who can run hardware through qualification and get parts out the door on schedule.

• Propulsion is the hard bottleneck. Engine makers and startups both need people who understand combustion, turbomachinery, and additive manufacturing. If you know how to test hot hardware safely, you will stay busy.

• Unmanned systems are hiring across the board. Drones and autonomy programs need software, controls, and field operators. Military and commercial buyers are both writing checks, so the work is spread wide.

Pick the lane that fits your skills. Get the cert or the clearance. Then negotiate.
