Aerospace and Defense Hiring: What Actually Matters Right Now
Here is what we see moving the market for operators and engineers this quarter.
- Commercial aviation is scrambling for structures and systems talent. Order backlogs at the major airframers stretch years out, and they cannot build fast enough. If you know composites, avionics integration, or production ramp work, hiring managers will take your call.
- Defense demand is steady and growing. Munitions restocking, missile programs, and shipbuilding all need engineers who can clear a background check and hold a security clearance. A clearance still moves you to the front of the line, and companies will pay to sponsor one for the right person.
- Space has shifted from experimental to operational. Launch cadence is up, satellite constellations keep expanding, and the work now looks like manufacturing at scale. Test engineers, propulsion techs, and ground systems people are in demand.
- MRO cannot find enough hands. Fleets are flying longer, so maintenance, repair, and overhaul shops are short on licensed A&P mechanics and inspectors. This is one of the most reliable places to land steady work right now.
- Unmanned systems keep pulling in software and autonomy people. Drones and uncrewed platforms need engineers who understand flight controls, sensors, and the software that ties them together. Defense and commercial buyers are both spending here.
If you have hardware skills and a willingness to work hands-on, this is a strong market. Show up ready to build.
