What's Driving Aerospace and Defense Hiring Right Now

  • Commercial aviation is catching up on backlogs. Boeing and Airbus still owe airlines thousands of jets, and that pressure runs straight down the supply chain. If you build structures, wire harnesses, or avionics, the work is steady and the overtime is real. Expect strong demand for quality and manufacturing engineers who can fix rate problems on the floor.
  • Defense budgets keep climbing, and the money is moving fast. Programs tied to munitions, missiles, and air defense are hiring hard. Clearances matter more than ever. If you hold an active Secret or TS/SCI, you have leverage in the market and should use it.
  • Space is past the hype and into production. Launch cadence is up, and satellite constellations need people who can build at volume, not just prototype. Propulsion test engineers, GN&C folks, and techs who have touched real hardware are in short supply.
  • MRO cannot find enough hands. Airlines are flying older fleets longer, so maintenance, repair, and overhaul shops are desperate for A&P mechanics and avionics techs. Pay is rising and relocation help is common. This is the easiest door into the industry right now.
  • Unmanned systems are a growth bet, not a side project. Drones and autonomy work span both defense and commercial. Software and controls engineers who understand flight hardware will have options for years.

Pick the lane that fits your skills, and move while the demand is high.
