Where the Aerospace and Defense Jobs Are Right Now

Here is what we see moving the hiring market this quarter. No fluff, just the trends you can act on.

  • Commercial aviation is still catching up. Airlines want planes and airlines want them delivered on time. That pressure runs straight back to the supply chain. Manufacturers are hiring assembly techs, quality inspectors, and structures engineers to clear the backlog. If you build or certify parts, you have options.
  • Defense budgets favor speed. Programs want prototypes in the field fast, not years from now. That shifts demand toward systems engineers, software people who understand hardware, and anyone who can get a design through test and into production. Clearances still open doors and raise pay.
  • Space keeps scaling. Launch cadence is up and satellite production looks more like a factory than a lab. Expect steady hiring for propulsion engineers, avionics techs, and manufacturing roles that treat spacecraft as a repeatable product.
  • MRO cannot find enough hands. The fleet is flying hard and aging, so maintenance, repair, and overhaul work is booming. A&P mechanics and avionics techs are in short supply, and shops are paying to fix that.
  • Unmanned is maturing. Drones and autonomous systems are moving from pilot projects to real fleets. Companies need controls engineers, flight test crews, and operators who can run these systems in the real world.

Pick the lane that fits your skills and move. The demand is real.
