Aerospace and Defense Hiring: What We See Right Now

  • Commercial aviation is back, and the backlog is real. Airlines need planes, and plane makers need people. Boeing and Airbus both face years of unfilled orders. That pulls demand for structures engineers, quality inspectors, and production operators who can hold a schedule and a tolerance at the same time.
  • Defense spending keeps climbing, and it favors builders. Budgets are up across missiles, munitions, and shipbuilding. Programs want engineers who can move a design from drawing to hardware, plus technicians who can run the line. A security clearance makes you stand out fast, so start that paperwork early.
  • Space has settled into steady work. The launch boom cooled into a real industry with real jobs. Satellite builders, ground systems teams, and propulsion shops all hire now. Fewer hype roles, more roles that ship product and keep rockets flying on a cadence.
  • MRO cannot find enough hands. Maintenance, repair, and overhaul shops are short on licensed mechanics and avionics techs. Older workers are retiring, and the planes still need to fly. If you hold an A&P certificate, you have options and leverage on pay.
  • Unmanned systems are where new money lands. Drones for defense and commercial use need software engineers, autonomy specialists, and test operators. This is the fastest growing corner, and it rewards people who learn fast and get hardware working in the field.

Pick the lane that fits your skills, and go.
