Material Review Board (MRB)
MRB
MRB is the cross-functional board that decides what to do with non-conforming material in an aerospace plant. When a part fails inspection, it goes to MRB hold. The board (Quality, Engineering, Program, sometimes the customer's resident rep) decides: rework, repair, accept-as-is via deviation, scrap, or return to vendor. The board has real teeth. If a part accepted via MRB later fails in service, the FAA or NTSB pulls the MRB record on day one of the investigation. Customer MRB authority is the contractual gradient that separates a trusted Tier 1 from everyone else. Roles where this matters: Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management.
